MISS DORIS K. KEDDY NEW ROSS WEST, Jan.3 -- There passed away at her home, on Dec. 27th, Doris Kathleen, age 29 years, daughter of Councillor and Mrs. Edward Keddy, Forties. She had been ill for some time. Apart from her home community, she will be greatly missed at Dalhousie where she spent a good deal of her time. She also had many friends at Stanburne and Cheeryfield (sic), where she taught one term at each of these schools, previous to her illness. In her immediate family she is survived by her parents; three sisters, Mrs. Guy (Florence) Fancy, East Dalhousie; Misses Alberta and Frances, at home; six brothers, Sgt. Gordon and Cpl. George of the Canadian Provost Corps, Halifax; Seaward, Lake Ramsay; Lloyd, Fories (sic); Theodore and Douglas at home. These six brothers were pall bearers at the funeral which was held on Dec. 29, from her home to the Anglican Church, with interment in the St. Augustine Anglican Church Cemetery, beside her sister, Rens, who predeceased her 18 years ago. The service, at both home and church, was conducted by Rev. Neish, Anglican rector, assisted by Rev. Mr. Fenerty, Baptist pastor, of Kentville.

MRS. LAURA C. MESSER BRIDGEWATER, Jan. 3, -- The many friends of Mrs. Laura C. Messer, formerly of this town, will regret to learn of her death, which occurred Wednesday morning, Jan. 2nd, at Belleville, Ont., where she moved the latter part of September to reside with her son William. Mrs. Messer, who was well known, was possessed of a beautiful Christian character, and the news of her death will be received with sincere regret by a wide circle of friends. She was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church and of the Women's Auxiliary of the church; also of the Atlantic Rebekah Lodge No.52, I.O.O.F., and the Past Noble Grands Club; and at one time was a member of the Bridgewater Women's Institute. Her husband, William F. Messer, predeceased her about twenty years. A daughter of the late Isaiah and Cassandra (Snyder) Wagner, she was born at Bridgewater 72 years ago. An only son, William Messer, of Belleville, and two grandchildren, William Jr., and George Messer , survive; also three sisters, Hilda, Mrs. Fred Miller; Eva, Mrs. George Flannagan, both of Lynn, Mass., and Mrs. Carrie Dauphinee, Bridgewater, and two brothers, Dawson Wagner, Bridgewater, and Ralton O. Wagner Mahone Bay. One sister, Freda, Mrs. Charles Johnston, Mahone Bay, and four brothers, Hemroe Wagner, Mahone Bay; Benjamin Wagner, who lost his life in World War I; Lynwood Wagner, Lynn Mass', and Thomas Wagner, Bridgewater, predeceased her. The body is expected to arrive here Friday and the funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, with Rev. G.A. Ernst officiating. Members of the Rebekah Lodge will attend in a body. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery.

Charles Crouse -- Brookfield, Colchester Co., Jan. 3 -- Charles Crouse, a highly repected and well-known resident of this place, passed away at the Colchester County Hospital, Truro, Saturday morning, Dec. 29, aged 81 years. Mr. Crouse was in his usual health until about a week ago, when he became ill, developed pneumonia and was removed to hospital. Born at Lapland, Lunenburg County, a son of the lat John and Jerusha Crouse, his boyhood was spent there. He married Miss Joanna Wile, of Waterloo, and came to Brentwood, Colchester County, where he conducted a milling business. Later he removed to Brookfield, where he continued to reside. Mr. and Mrs. Crouse celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage Octover 15 of this year. In the immediate family he is survived by his wife; two daughters (Marguarite), Mrs. Charles Boutilier, Brookfield; (Rubie), Mrs. Jas. Salterio, Halifax; one son, Carl, Brookfield; a grandaughter, Joyce Salterio, Halifax; two brothers, Darius, Shubenecadie, and Jacob, Bridgewater; two sisters, (Annie) Mrs. A. R. Shed, of Johannesburg, South Africa, and (Rachael), Mrs. J. H. Coffill, Bridgewater. He was a regular attendant of Knox United Church, and always willing to help in any good work. Funeral service was at the home residence here Monday, Dec. 31, at 2 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. Milton Fraser, of Knox United Church. Interment was in the family lot in the new cemetery beside his youngest daughter, Helen, who passed away about two years ago. January 4
Mrs. W. H. Bullerwell -- Pleasant Lake, Jan. 3 -- There passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wells, in Yarmouth, Mrs. William Henry Bullerwell, affectionately called "Aunt Polly" by her numerous friends. This esteemed lady, a native of Tusket, but for years a resident of this place, this week previous to her demise, celebrated her 96th birthday, and on that occasion received callers and messages of congratulation. She was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Caroline Hurlburt Hatfield, of Tusket. Funeral services were held at the Baptists Church here, and interment in the family plot. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Wells of Yarmouth; Mrs. Ethel Trefry of Vinal Haven, Maine; Mrs. Joseph Nichol of Salem, Mass; two adopted sons, Aaron Blauvelt of Peabody, Mass. and George Brittian of Pleasnat Lake; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband predeceased her about 14 years ago. January 4

MRS. EDITH NICKERSON There passed away in the Victoria General Hospital early yesterday morning, Mrs. Edith Nickerson, wife of Charles Nickerson, 137 Grafton Street. Born in Halifax she had resided in the city for a number of years. The remains are resting at Snow and Company's Chapel, where service will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. George Gardiner of the Full Gospel Church. The body will be forwarded to Glace Bay on the Tuesday evening's train, where interment will take place.

MRS. JOHN A. RICHARD The death occurred recently of Mrs. John A. Richard in Charlos Cove. Blind for the past five years, Mrs. Richard has been in failing health for some time. Her husband predeceased her six years ago. Left to mourn their loss are three daughters, Mrs. Bernadette Richard, at home, Mrs. Leo Pellerin, Halifax, and Miss Charlotte Richard, Philadelphia, and one son Alphonso, at home. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday by Rev. C. Forest.

MRS. JULIA MESSER LUNENBURG, Jan. 7 - Following a protracted illness there passed away at her home a woman highly esteemed in the community - Julia, widow of Alden Messer, aged 69 years. The late Mrs. Messer was a daughter of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Herman of this town. Although of a quiet unassuming nature, high ideals characterized her daily life and spread their influence in church and community work with which she was associated. As a loyal and devout member of St. John's Anglican Church she was always found at any post of duty assigned her. She was also a valued member of the Women's Institute and of the local W.C.T.U. where her presence will be greatly missed. Mrs. Messer's husband predeceased her several years ago and she is survived by an only son, Harry Messer of the Bank of Commerce staff, Halifax; also three brothers and two sisters - Richard Herman, Florida City, Fla.; James Herman, Swan River, Manitoba; Olonzo, Toronto; Emily (Mrs. William Layes), Berlin, New Hampshire; Bertha (Mrs. W.T. Powers), Lunenburg. There are also two grandchildren. January 8
