Why do I require you to register?

This site is private, with information about living individuals stored in the database. The registration process allows me to safely assign certain permissions to all users (and help keep out unwanted users) so that they can view this data, or edit the data stored in the database, or even download my GEDCOM. For more information see here. There are five areas of the form that I require you to fill in: Your username, password, real name, a valid email address, and the reasons why you wish to become a member of my site. (The places and names of the people you are interested in, etc.)
